Creating Your First Status Page
A status page is your public window to communicate with users about your service health. Let’s create one in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Navigate to Status Pages
From your dashboard, go to Status Pages in the left menu, then click New Status Page.
Alternatively, you can click the Create Status Page shortcut button on your dashboard.
Step 2: Choose a Name and Slug
You’ll need to provide two things:
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | The display name for your status page | “Acme Corp Status” |
| Slug | The URL-friendly identifier (no spaces, lowercase) | “acme-corp” |
Your status page will be available at: https://your-slug.statuspage.me
You can also choose from other free domains (sp.fyi, hostedstatus.page) or connect a custom domain. Configure this in Settings → Access tab.
Note: The slug cannot be changed after creation, so choose carefully!
Step 3: Basic Settings
You can configure additional options now or come back later:
- Logo - Upload your company logo
- Description - A short description shown on your status page
- Theme - Choose between light and dark mode
Don’t worry - you can customize all of these later in your status page settings.
Step 4: Save and Preview
Click Create Status Page to save. Your status page is now live!
You can:
- Visit your status page by clicking the link
- Edit settings to customize the appearance
- Add components to show individual services
Adding Components
Components represent the individual services you want to track on your status page. For example:
- Website
- API
- Database
- Mobile App
- Payment System
To add components, go to Status Pages > Components or see our component management guide.
